Finding the right Devastator

Post by Lawfair »

My soon to be 4 year-old nephew is very enamored with my combiner wars Devastator, so I was thinking of getting him his own Devastator for his birthday, since I won't let him play with mine. I found this one on both ebay and amazon, and wonder if anyone knows if it is decent for a little kid.

I've got one (scales well with eg the Legends mini G2 Megatron) and it's going to be a bit fiddly, particularly the individual figures. Assuming it's the same company still bootlegging it, it's good quality for a knock off of an unofficial third party design.

I'm not sure there is a particularly good Devastator for a four year old apart from the Hasbro CW release, most have small parts or don't hold together in combined form. If he's a careful sort of kid I'd get one as long as he's going to be supervised with it. But buying inappropriate things runs in our family, my godmother got me Starscream when I was three (and Warpath and the big Cy-Kill... Warpath survived and Starscream only got the null rays broken, but that's because I was only really allowed the Cy-Kill and it was big enough and solid enough without accessories. I still battered the hell out of the paint.)

edit: Be cautious with zero/low feedback eBay sellers though.

The funny thing is I've noticed the old G1 originals are a lot sturdier than anything else I've given him (save for his Playskol Rescue Bots). So maybe the real take away is some things just aren't right for a four year old.

Thank you for your reply, it was very helpful.

Yeah, the individual originals are pretty sturdy and simple, it's the accessories that cause problems (and not staying together in combined form).

If it doesn't have to be the original character, there were chunky fewer Constructicon versions released about fifteen years ago;

Or the Action Master from the 90s is a small non-combining version that's quite easy to get and would suit younger hands;

To find the right Devastator, it depends on which version of Transformers you're referring to. Devastator is a combiner character made up of different construction vehicles in the original Generation 1 (G1) Transformers. In other Transformers universes, Devastator may have different appearances or abilities. Specify the universe and do some research to find the appropriate version of Devastator.

In some ways it's really quite impressive what can done with natural language models and machine learning but I'd still hesitate to use the term AI.

Will sort out later. We don't particularly want to be someone's training data, and apart from necro posting the trouble with bots is the potential for flooding and (in a broader context) what Banks called hegemonic swarms.

Hey, just make sure that it's not complex and complicated like the Constructicon Team/Devastator from the live-action ALLSPARK movie series, that's for sure! That one's got even me confused :wall: :eek: :eyebrow: :confused: , and being fifty-years-old now, I should be a TF Pro! I know that I have A LOT of catching up to do.
