Looks like cutesy crap.

Anyone here read Japanese? Because it looks like a character going through the cliched motions of demonstrating they have a hectic lifestyle and are trying to brush their hair, brush their teeth and struggle into clothes before running out of the door.

edit: Spengs? What does the text say?

Yeah, known a week ago...

That's just a BBTS pre-order info thing. :)

edit: Incidentally, I find the Kiss thing hilarious, but I really doubt Takara are actually going to market a TF "sex" line/comic -- it's all stuff that could be interpreted as salacious but will probably tie in to the characters being "charmingly naive" or somesuch.

Thing is, far as I can tell, the Japanese don't regard any of that as salacious or taboo anyway. It's just cutesy and regarded as pretty tame and run of the mill.

It's like Primal Scream being on the Radio 2 playlist. Once, such a notion would have had the Daily Mail in apoplexy. Now it's just met with a shrug of acceptance.

We see a cutesy anime girl in a provocative pose and our minds boggle. The Japanese just regard it as normal culture. Like those machines that dispense used underwear or whatever.

From what I gather (people I know who've visited, the general lack of documentary evidence) they're rare almost to the point of urban myth -- it's just something people "know" about Japan, like Hello Kitty vibrators, aided and abetted by sites such as J-List. Over here there are just lots of people selling the same stuff via eBay, and it's impossible to use the main index of the DVD listings because it's wall-to-wall (pirated) porn listed as "lads DVD" or similar.

International communities undoubtedly have a poorer view of the UK from "news" reports of things such as "dogging", "toothing" and "happy-slapping"...

Notice it's the Americans who are most vocally getting bent out of shape across the various boards?

had pc problems, my humble apologies for not surfing *bows graciously*. thank you for the correction. different note, japanese see sex as pretty much normal, most japanese people i talk to just regard it as normal and if they make a toy, movie, etc. with provacative poses they sometimes are making fun of mainstream culture. A.k.a. Excel Saga and whatnot. Such an interesting culture it is :3 I saw how it was mainly us weird Americans getting bent out of shape and dissign Japanese cartoons, and I wanted to post replies how Transformers were japanese to start out with, people have too much time on their hands to really disrespect the japanese when these same people play japanese video games, buy japanese sound products (walkmans, cd roms, etc.) and drive japanese imported cars. people here in america are that sad i must sadly say.

Damn, he's TINY.

Also, it appears that Convoy on the Kiss radio show is voiced by Tessho Genda (the Japanese counterpart to Peter Cullen, and also Primus on Galaxy Force).

That's a swimsuit she's wearing, incidentally -- the figure comes with a surfboard that turns into a sword (!) remember...

From what Nevermore said about him being tiny my guess is the G1 Prowl looking like figure with girl in what looks like a sailor-type outfit in the lower left corner under the Kiss Convoy toy pic.

Autolooper is a downscaled (WSTF size) Mazda RX-8 mold with a police deco.

The name is sopposed to be a play on words with "auto" and "trooper", if "trooper" was pronounced as "torooper".

I'm a girl. I like cute. Cute is fluffy bunnies, big-eyed puppies and those Poppets they sold your parents in the 60s. I do not see these 'young ladies' as cute, only provocative and, in the context, it's terrible.

I know that the Japanese have a different culture, but this is straying a bit too far for me and I will not be showing any of this information to my children. Well, not for at least another seven years, by which time, no doubt, my eldest will have found it or similar for himself.

I am a guy and I like cute, Moogles are cute, anytime I see them on Final Fantasy 11 I want to squeeze them to death. I am not sure these poses they chose are that provacative, but possibly fearful poses. I know if I just saw a vehicle turn into a giant robot I would possibly be striking the same pose or trying to crawl away like one figure is obviously doing. Just different interpretations really, this isn't the worst content I have honestly seen, and believe me this is G rated compared to what is already on the market. Pokemon and every Japanese cartoon is honestly very adult themed compared to how they censor it here in America honestly. Example, Sailor moon is a hentai in japan, or borderline (and they consider that a kid's show here in america). Anyways the point being, wait till the show comes out and then judge because after we see it censored and un-censored can we truly make a better judgement. I am not also secretly trying to get a person(s) to go and buy the whole line. I am just stating that a person needs to try and interpret the pose that said toy could be using. I myself am not really interested in this line, but I do enjoy a romantic comedy when I see one (this certainly looks like it would be a roamntic comedy honestly). Also like I stated above in my first post on the subject, they could be making fun of mainstream themes and they could also get wild and raunchy with this, hard to tell by just a few posts that I have read, and little or no information that I can read in english.

A friend found this:

http://www.shortpacked.com/d/20060609.html

One of her friends, who is an anime buff, informed her that this is indeed hentai and not the sort of thing that some members of our UK police establishment particularly approve of. She also viewed the Rodimus plus bondage partner with some horror.

Look, someone found Shortpacked!

FYI, Walky (David Willis, the writer/artist of the online comic your friend found) is a long-standing active member of the TF online fandom. He posts frequently over at the Allspark. :)

Sort of. If the date in your profile is accurate, you're roughly the generation born after my mother's. Personally I wouldn't give the current crop of girly magazines pitched at teens to teens, but that and family stores selling 'fashion' to kids are norms.

As someone who isn't an anime or manga buff but do have friends and family who've visited Japan, even I've grasped the distinction between hentai (stuff featuring sex acts) and ecchi -- and ecchi still usually refers to sexual nudity. Kiss-play is nothing the average commuter wouldn't find on food/convenience packaging.

So... yeah, it'll piss off Daily Mail readers, but nothing new there.
