Well, I thought he was dead, so from my perspective he's in rude health. Which one am I thinking of? Unicron for about an episode before kicking the can? Or did I just make that up at some point and now think it's fact?

You're thinking of Harry Mudd, who played Cyclonus (as not played by Orson Welles in the Movie) and Unicron for a few TV episodes.
